It has started to become painfully visible that Joe Biden is losing it. In one day, he has called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as ‘President Putin’, and referred Vice President Kamala Harris as ‘Vice President Trump’. The slip up has made him a subject of mockery on online platforms.

During NATO Summit in Washington, Biden handed over the mic to Zelensky by calling him President Putin, and then corrected himself.

“And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin”, he said. Biden then corrected himself by saying, “Going to beat President Putin, President Zelensky. I am so focused on beating Putin”, while a number of European leaders clapped hesitantly. Zelensky responded to the slip up by saying “I am better (than Putin)”.

Then during the President’s highly anticipated solo press conference in Washington, Biden referred his VP as Trump. He said, “Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president [if] I think she’s not qualified to be president”.

Making the situation even more chaotic for him, when the reporters questioned Biden about Trump mocking him for his blunder, he responded by saying, “Listen to him”.13 of the 213 Democrats in the House and one of the Senate’s 51 Democrats have appealed publicly to the president to withdraw from the race, so far. Several celebrities and big donors of the party also openly called out Biden to step down.

In a recent poll conducted by ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos revealed that two-thirds of Americans want Biden to step aside as the Democrat nominee for the presidential post. As many as 67 per cent of the respondents want the incumbent president to drop from the race, while 85 per cent believe that the Democrat leader is too old for a second term.

Ever since he rambled, mumbled, stuttered and appeared to zone out during several segments of the presidential debate last month, questions and concerns regarding his health and cognitive power has been on the table. There have been rumours that the US President has Parkinson’s disease and that doctors had been secretly treating him for the same at the White House. “I’ve taken three significant and intense neurological exams by a neurosurgeon. And they say I’m in good shape. Do they? Can they give a press conference?” he said addressing the rumours.
