A British cargo ship sunk in the North Sea after colliding with a large vessel in the North Sea, according to reports. The incident happened on Tuesday morning as UK-listed Verity and the Bahamian-flagged cargo ship, Polesie crashed each other. Rescuers are searching for the several sailors who went missing after the crash.
The incident occurred at 12 nautical miles south west of Helgoland Island, Germany. According to Bloomberg, the Polsie vessel stayed afloat with 22 people on board.
The German navy joins the search for the survivors of the crash, according to spokesman for Germany/s Central Command for Maritime Emergencies. The UK-listed Verity was carrying steel and was owned by Faversham Ships Ltd.
