X (Twitter) CEO Elon Musk said on Friday in a X post that “DEI must die,” implying DEI initiatives are not conducive to peace and tolerance. DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
DEI must DIE.
The point was to end discrimination, not replace it with different discrimination.

However, World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus disagreed with the statement, saying “”Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” are essential principles that aim to promote fairness, equal opportunities, and respect for all individuals, regardless of their background or identity, perspectives, and experiences. These principles are about creating a more just and inclusive society. Let”s work together to make sure everyone is treated with equality and dignity.”
“Dear @elonmusk, I understand your perspective, but I respectfully disagree. I can give you many examples from my own experience and from others,” he added.

Elon Musk later said ““Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” are propaganda words for racism, sexism, and other ideologies. This is just as morally wrong as any other form of racism or sexism. Changing the target class doesn’t make it right!”
This is not the first time Elon Musk and the WHO chief have argued on X. In March 2023, Elon Musk came up with the argument that countries should not “cede authority” to the World Health Organization.

The U.N. health agency”s chief quickly rejected his comments, saying, “”Countries aren”t ceding sovereignty to @WHO,” Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tweeted in response. “The #PandemicAccord won”t change that. The accord will help countries better guard against pandemics.”
