Jeremy recently joined South Africa’s petition of genocide against Israel. He had also questioned the United Kingdom Prime Minister over his support for the Israel assault in Gaza. Jeremy was earlier suspended from the Labour party over alleged antisemitism.
Labour Party has historically supported the Jewish state in Palestine. Keir Starmer, the current leader of the Labour Party is of the view that Israel should not be stopped and should be allowed to continue its offensive in Gaza. However, Starmer’s predecessor, Jeremy Corbyn had described Hamas and Hizballah representatives in more friendly terms. He argued that peace should be brought by the diplomatic efforts of all involved parties and not by military campaigns.
However, in today’s scenario, there are supporters for two leader”s positions in the Labour Party, leading to the development of dissenting views within the party over the ongoing Israel assault on Gaza. With Starmer supporting the moves such as cutting water and energy to Gaza, many in the Labour Party believe that the party, which has stood for social justice has failed to its cause in Gaza.
The former labour party leader after the hearing in International Court of Justice (ICJ) on South Africa’s petition recently slammed that Westers states saying that how the Western states have shamed themselves by defending Israel while the lawyers of South Africa were supporting basic human rights. Sir Keir, one of the Labour Party leaders told last month that Jeremy will not be the Labour Party’s candidate.
Today”s ICJ hearing was devastating. Horror after horror, laid out in plain sight for all to see.
South Africa spoke for millions around the world desperate for this massacre to end — and put the UK & US government to shame for their deplorable silence, cowardice and complicity.
