Democratic Campaign Hires An Afghan-American Woman For Muslims And Arab Voters Outreach

The presidential campaign of Kamala Harris has hired an Afghan-American lawyer, Nasrina Bargzie to reach Muslim and Arab voters, according to the NBC News reports. Bargzie had previously worked ‘in Harris’ White House office until July as a policy adviser on Muslim, Arab and Gaza-related issues.

Reportedly, the appointment of Bargzie comes as Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week, where pro-Palestinian protests are to take place against Israel and US military funding to Israel.

Bargazie stated to NBC News that she is honored to continue her work with the Vice President and advise her on a range of critical issues in the upcoming election including democracy and reproductive rights to Muslim and Arab outreach. She also said to support the Presidential candidate’s commitment to freedom, justice, and peace.

Some progressive activists have claimed that Harris appears to show more sympathy towards Palestinians. However, the Democratic candidate has boasted her pro-Israeli credentials throughout her political career and maintained ties with pro-Israel lobbying groups like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac).

Harris drew criticism after silencing a group of protesters in Detroit, Michigan in a rally, where one of the largest concentration of Arab Americans live in the country. Reportedly, may protestors laid out plan to disrupt her election rallies across the country because of the concerns that she would not pursue meaningful policy solutions on Gaza and Israel.
