Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni“s comment about Islamic culture and civilization has caught the netizen”s attention recently. The video, which recently surfaced online, was believed to have been taken from a recent event in Rome, Italy. The event was a political festival organized by Meloni”s far-right party “brothers of Italy”.

The Italian PM was seen saying Islamic culture is not compatible with European values.

“I believe there is a problem of compatibility between Islamic culture and the values and rights of our civilisation. Will not allow Sharia law to be implemented in Italy. The values of our civilisation are different!” Meloni said in the video.

Criticising Saudi Arabia for its Sharia Law, Meloni, said that Sharia Law and Sharia means lapidation for adultery and the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality. She also accused Saudis of financing the Islamic culture centre in Italy, expressing her concern over the “Islamisation of Europe”

“I believe that these should be raised, which does not mean generalising on Islam. It means raising the problem that there is a process of Islamisation in Europe that is very distant from the values of our civilisation,” she added.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was also present at the event. while addressing the right-wing political festival, he also added fuel to the fire by making another loaded comment saying: “the threat of a growing number of refugees could overwhelm parts of Europe.”

“Some enemies were deliberately driving people to our shores to try and destabilise our societies,” he added.

Notably, most refugees are Muslims from African and war-ravaged West Asian countries.

However, despite both Rishi and Meloni being from different backgrounds, both came close in their political implications, which was well-reflected by the news headline of the Guardian – A love-burst: how Sunak and Meloni”s rapport is boosting far-right agenda.
