Philadelphia has undergone a plundering spree from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. Over 100 individuals including teenagers plundered stores in Philadelphia.

As reported by Fox29, the interim commissioner John Stanford said the ransacking began at 8:00 pm on Tuesday. Police call this a “coordinated attack” as several shops of Walnut Street has undergone the vandalizing.

iPhones and iPads of the Apple store that has been looted scattered around the floor. Retail shops like Lululemon and Footlocker were also looted.

The owner of Bruce Goldberg Northeast Pharmacy in the Northeast Philadelphia reported theft of 40 bags filled with prescriptions, blood pressure and AIDS medication.

Police swarmed between 15th and 18th street of Walnut Street. Around 20 teenagers who were involved in the crime were reported to apprehended and at least 2 fire arms were captured.

There are speculation about “caravan” of vehicles went from location to location around the city and plundered retail stores. Parts of Chestnut and Walnut streets were closed down by the police to “ensure the safety of both the public and property”.

Earlier, Philadelphia judge has called off the charge on former police officer Mark Dial in the case to the death of 27 year old Eddy Irizarry. Eddy Irizarry was dead in a police involved shooting. The Police Commissioner dismissed the relation between the plundering and the unrest following the freeing of Mark Dial.

As a precautionary step, police had been deployed anticipating the “silent protest” going out of control. But later as the protest started dispersing police started retreating. According to Mr. Stanford, the plundering has nothing to do with the protest, as the vandalizing was done by “criminal opportunists” trying to take advantage of the situation.

Philadelphia police has shared images of suspects wanted for the theft.

Jim Kenney, Philadelphia”s Mayor thanked “PhillyPolice” for their “swift response to disperse crowds and make necessary arrests to last night”s incidents”.

He also added that the act was a “sickening display of criminal activity” and the country will not tolerate it.

Thorough investigation is going on. Law enforcement officials has decided to use surveillance video to track down the culprits, says report.
