Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remains stranded in India after the conclusion of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. A ferry aircraft is expected to arrive to take the Canadian delegation back home. It is said that the earliest possible departure from the national capital is Tuesday late afternoon.

The delegation of Canada arrived in Delhi on Friday and was received by the Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. He was expected to depart on Sunday but was stranded in Delhi due to the technical issue of the aircraft.

A replacement aircraft dispatched to India to retrieve Mr Trudeau was reportedly diverted to the UK.

“Upon our departure for the airport, we were made aware by the Canadian Armed Forces that CFC001 was experiencing technical issues,” the channel quoted the statement from the prime minister”s office as saying.

The plane drama has now become an add on to Trudeau’s woes in his travel to India.

During the G20 Summit, Trudeau was criticised by the Prime Minister for allegedly allowing the “anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada,” a reference to Sikh groups that advocate for an independent homeland known as Khalistan.

The two Prime Ministers did not hold any bilateral meeting during the summit, but Trudeau said they have discussed about the foreign interfaces. The Canadian Prime Minister addressed a press conference after the summit and he spoke on various issues including Khalistan issue.

“I think on the issue of the community, it is important to remember that the actions of the few do not represent the entire community or Canada. The flip side of it, we also highlighted the importance of respecting the rule of law and we did talk about foreign interference…” Trudeau said.
