Putin "Would Be Assassinated" If He Backs Out From War On Ukraine: Elon Musk

Elon Musk told the Republican Senators of US that there is “no way in hell” that Vladimir Putin could lose the war on Ukraine. Musk made the comment on forum Monday on X Spaces. The discussions on the platform also included opponents of a Senate bill that would provide further assistance for Kyiv to continue to the full-scale Russian invasion which began two years ago.

Musk was joined by Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, David Sacks, co-founder of Craft Ventures LLC, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, JD Vance of Ohio, and Mike Lee of Utah. Musk’s remark came after Johnson said that Putin would not lose in Ukraine. He said those expecting a victory for Ukraine were “living in a fantasy world”.

Vance said, “we gotta kill this thing” referring to the $95 billion measure, which also include $60 billion in assistance for Ukraine, funding for Israel, Taiwan and humanitarian aid for Gaza. Musk said he hoped the Americans would contact their elected representatives about the Ukraine bill. He said the prolonging of the war does not help Ukraine.

This is not the first time the X user has made such comments. He voiced his doubt on the probability of Ukraine winning the war and mocked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request for aid. Musk was criticized for this by Ukraine and Democratic members of Congress.

Elon Musk said that there was pressure on Putin to see the fight through. He said, “if he were to back off, he would be assassinated”. He also added that he was sometimes accused of being a Putin apologist, and called the accusation “absurd”. He said his companies “have probably done more to undermine Russia than anything”.

Musk cited his SpaceX providing Starlink internet service to Ukraine, which has been crucial for the nation’s communications after Russia’s invasion started. He also sited SpaceX taking away business away from Russia’s space launch business. It is not note that Ukraine accused Starlink of aiding Russia, despite Musk labelled the allegations as “fake news”.

Elon Musk’s views lies in complete contrast with American President Joe Biden and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who argue that aiding Ukraine’s defense against the Kremlin is under America’s interests and will help deter other autocrats from starting wars of their own.

Musk said his interest lies in ending the deaths of people on both sides of the war, adding that he doubted the wisdom of seeking Putin’s ouster. He said that those who are thinking about the regime change from Putin should also think about a person who could take out Putin, and if the “person likely to be a peacenik? Probably not”. He further added that such a person might be “even hardcore than Putin”.
