Nigel Farage who is known to be the driving force behind Britain’s Brexit movement has been elected as the MP for the first time after his eighth attempt to the UK parliament.
The Reform UK leader’s victory has been followed by his party surging support in four constituencies. Farage has overturned a 25,000 Conservative majority to take Clacton in Essex by more than 8,000 votes.

After declaring the results, he said, “the first step of something that is going to stun all of you”.
Reform also gained Great Yarmouth and Boston and Skegness from the Tories. The party has gained large support from the areas where the Conservatives won in 2019 and have come second in many constituencies.
While speaking to the reporters, he said it is the beginning of the end of the Conservative Party. As per the exit polls, the party was predicted to win 13 seats.
During the election campaign, Farage used illegal and legal migration as the major tool against the Conservatives. And it seemed to have won over a considerable number of socially conservative voters, with Reform UK candidates splitting the right-wing vote and contributing to the Conservatives’ losses.
Farage is best known outside UK for the friendship he shares with former US president Donald Trump. He has been a polarising figure in British politics and has long been known for using alarmist and confrontational language when discussing immigration.
Ever since he announced his candidacy, Farage has sparked outrage from political opponents due to his comment that West provoked Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Moreover, several have noted that the entry of Farage has come at the same time when Europe is broadly in the grip of the right-wing populist surge.
