A 32-year-old Indian origin man was killed at a convenience store in the US state of Texas, the officials report on Monday. He was shot during a robbery and the tragic incident happened on June 21, at a gas station convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas.
The victim was identified as Dasari Gopikrishna, a native of Bapatla district who had reached the US only eight months ago.
When the gunman opened the fire, Gopikrishna who was at the billing counter, sustained critical injuries. He was soon taken to nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

Consul General D C Manjunath, who was in Dallas for a Yoga Day event on Sunday, told to the news agency PTI that the incident was not related to a shooting in Arkansas as earlier reported by various sources.

Consul General extended condolences to Gopikrishna’s family;”We are deeply saddened to learn about the tragic demise of Indian national Gopi Krishna Dasari in a robbery shooting incident at Pleasant Grove, Dallas, TX, and are in touch with local family members,” PTI quotes, as Manjunath is saying.

The Consulate, with the assistance of Indian associations, are providing aid to enable the repatriation of Dasari Gopikrishna’s body to India following, local formalities, which involves autopsy and death certificates.
Gopikrishna is survived by a wife and son.
