US sent last of its arms supplies to Ukraine for now. The White house has approved another trench of military aid to Ukraine that is worth some $250 million. Th latest package is said to include air defence, artilleries, arms ammunition and anti-tank weapons, said US officials. The aid supply is believed to be last for now as fundings may not be available without fresh approval from Congress, of which talks are at halt now.

Earlier, Ukraine has warned that the countries public finances and war efforts are at risk if the further Western aid is not delivered. Though the US Congress does not have any disagreement on the Ukraine war effort, agreement on further arms has came to a halt when Republicans insisted on tougher security measures on US-Mexico border to be the part of any military deal.

Earlier this month, an emergency funding of $50 billion for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel was blocked in the Senate, when every Republican voted against it. Along with the Republicans, Bernie Sanders, an independent who usually go vote with the Democrats voiced his concerns about Israel’s war in Gaza. The subsequent visit of Zelensky, Ukrainian leader also failed to gain the lawmakers approval.

For the latest announcement of arms supply to Ukraine, weapons will be taken from existing stocks of Pentagon, which does not require Congress approval. Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State in statement said that “it is imperative that the Congress act swiftly, as soon as possible, to advance our national security interests by helping Ukraine defend itself and secure its future”.

As per the report, Ukraine is facing a $43 billion budget crisis, and officials says that the country may have to delay salaries and pensions for government employees, it the aid from West does not come soon. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko said to Financial Times, “the support of partners is extremely critical…we need it urgently”.

While Ukraine is waiting for supplies from West, Russian force continued to fight and seized a key town Mariinka in the east Ukraine, after the Ukrainian force pulled back. The alleged ammunition trade between Russia and North Korea is also reported to be going on, as satellite pictures showed shipping active between ports of North Korea and Russia.
