While talking to podcaster Lex Fridman, Mr. Musk said, “Playing video games has a calming effect on my mind. Confronting virtual challenges helps ease the turbulence in my thoughts…I have played many video games because it’s my recreational activity”.

Fortune, a business magazine based in US has quoted Mr. Musk as saying, “my mind is a storm. I don’t think most people would want to be me. They may think they would want to be me, but they don’t, they don’t know, they don’t understand”.

Clair Boucher, also known as Grimes, who has been a long partner of the X (formerly twitter) owner, told biographer Walter Isaacson that the billionaire doesn’t have any special “hobbies or means of relaxation aside from video games, but he approaches them with such seriousness that it becomes quite intense”.

According to Fortune, the Space X owners favourite video game is “The Battle of Polytopia” which is describes as a “strategy game about building a civilization and going into battle”. According to NDTV, Mr. Musk’s brother Kimbal has mentioned about how Mr. Musk views Polytopia as an effective tool to learn CEO skills by underscoring that “Empathy is not an asset”.

Apart form The Battle of Polytopia, Elden Ring, which focuses on war and empire building, is another preferred video game of Elon Musk. Mr. Musk has observed while playing the game that “conquering internal animosity is the most challenging boss battle, both in life and in the realm of video games”.

It is said that the Tesla owner uses video games to attain a specific mental state. Grime, with whom Mr. Musk has three children said that he decided to purchase Twitter after an intense gaming session of Elden Ring which lasted up to 5 am in the morning.

Mr. Musk is someone who greatly appreciates ‘breathtaking arts’ of the video games. While talking to Mr. Fridman, he told that “if you play a tough video game, you can get into a flow, which is very enjoyable. Admittedly it needs to be not too easy, not too hard, kind of in the Goldilocks zone”. He also added that the video games also have a “beautiful art, engaging storylines, and it’s like an amazing puzzle to solve”.
