U.S. President Donald Trump, while addressing the press during the Tech Prospect Deal with the UK, announced the Washington endeavor to get the Afghanistan Bagram Air Base back. President Trump’s statement has stirred the geopolitical speculations of US interest in the region and the regional stability.

While announcing the US intent, Trump said, “that base is an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons”.

In response to the US claim, the Afghanistan Foreign MinisterAmir Khan Mutaqi said, “If the United States recognizes our government and rebuilds all of Afghanistan, we will not give them even an inch of Afghan territory — they must not even think about the Bagram base.”

“If that were possible, why would we have fought this twenty-year war? Why would we have lost so many martyrs? We also discussed this issue explicitly with the Americans during the talks in Doha; they requested a military or intelligence presence, and we told them decisively that we will not accept a single military or intelligence person”, he said.

The United States completed its military withdrawal from Afghanistan on August 30, 2021 marking America’s longest war, which began in October 2001 after the 9/11 attacks.

Within days of the US withdrawal, the Taliban regained control of most of the the Afghanistan, culminating in their capture of Kabul on August 15, 2021.

The geoplotical analysts sees the US claim to the base of stirring up of another geopolitical instability in the region.
