“Never Endorsed Any Political Party”: Aamir Khan Debunks Fake Video; Lodges FIR With Mumbai Police

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has released a statement debunking a widely circulated fake video of him endorsing a particular political party. Khan clarified that he has “never endorsed a political party in his 35-year career.”

An AI-generated video has been circulating online where the renowned actor can be seen promoting a particular political party. The actor’s office released a statement highlighting Khan’s “dedicated efforts” in “raising public awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections.”

Expressing alarm at the fake video that has gone viral, the statement states that the video is fake and “totally untrue.” The Laal Singh Chaddha actor has reported the matter to the concerned authorities and has filed an FIR with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police.

The statement concludes a message from the actor urging all citizens of the country to vote and be an active part of the elections.

The AI-generated deep fake video uses a clip from the TV show Satyamev Jayate, hosted by Aamir Khan, which was telecasted over ten years ago. According to the news agency IANS, the actor has filed an FIR against Congress. In the fake video, the actor appears to be questioning the ruling BJP over its unfulfilled promise of submitting Rs 15 lakh in the accounts of every Indian citizen.

In terms of future projects, Aamir Khan is currently working on the sequel to the critically and commercially acclaimed Taare Zameen Par, called Sitaare Zameen Par. Apart from Aamir Khan, the RS Prasanna-directorial also features Genelia D’Souza. Khan is also producing Lahore: 1947, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role.
