Kia has launched its second all-electric offering in India after the EV6 crossover launched in 2022 at a price tag of Rs 1.30 crore. The Kia EV9 is built in South Korea and will compete against other luxury electric SUVs like BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. It is a fully imported CBU model. The EV9 is also the flagship model in Kia’s global lineup. Talking about its dimensions, it is clear that the EV9 is a big EV with an overall length of 5,015mm, width of 5,015mm, and height of 1,780mm and a wheelbase of 3,100mm. The EV9 has won two recognitions in the form of Best Car of the Year as well as the Best Electric Vehicle of the Year awards.

Design & Aesthetics

The full-size electric SUV will be offered in a single fully-loaded GT-Line trim with a standard 6-seat layout. Despite its boxy design, the look of the EV9 is very Gen-next with design elements such as a digital lighting grille flanked by pixelated LED headlights which Kia calls Ice Cube LED projector headlamps. The Indian EV9 is offered with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive has a combined output of 379 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The electric motors get power off a 99.8kWh battery pack that comes with an ARAI-certified range of 561 km. As far as the speed is concerned, the EV9 claims to clock 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds.

The all-new Carnival priced competitively

Kia plans to locally assemble the MPV at a later date, in order to price it reasonably. At that point, the Carnival is more expensive at Rs 63.90 lakh than it top-spec rival Toyota Innova Hycross, which is currently priced at Rs 30.98 lakh in Delhi.

Interior, and exterior features

This is the the model which is the facelift of the fourth-generation Carnival. It gets a boxier and sharper design compared to its earlier model and features Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille. It also carries vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, as well as 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and the L-motif at the rear.

Customers would get two colour options to choose from – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black along with two dual-tone theme interior options – Navy and Misty Gray, and Tuscan and Umber. It gets options of 2+2+3 seating layout, with second-row captain seats with heating and ventilation, along with adjustable leg support. The Carnival is fully-loaded variant that gets dual 12.3-inch curved displays, a 4-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, three-zone climate control, a 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 12-way powered driver’s seat and wireless charging pads.
It is embedded with Safety features like 8 airbags, rear disc brakes, ESC, Hill Assist Control, a tyre pressure monitor, front, rear and side parking sensors, 360-degree camera and an ADAS Level 2 suite with Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and much more.

Tech-Specifications

The new Carnival gets a sole 2.2-litre diesel engine churning 193hp and 441Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Kia is also offering three years of free maintenance, warranty and road side assistance.
