Hero To Recall About 4.5 Million Vehicles Worldwide Over Fuel Pump Issue

Honda Motor”s American Unit has decided to recall nearly 4.5 million of its vehicles worldwide, including 2.54 million vehicles in the United States, due to the fuel pump failure.

The move has come in light of 4,042 warranty claims to the issue since 2018. However, there are no reports of injuries. According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Japanese automaker, with respect to the notification to the customers, will replace the fuel pump module with a new one with greater density and expanded clearance by February next year.

The recall encompasses various models of Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Insight, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Passport, and various Acura models, including the ILX, MDX, RDX, RLX, TLX, and NSX vehicles.

Honda made recalls of about 106,030 CR-V hybrid vehicles due to the risk of fire or injury in a crash caused by an overheated battery cable or short circuit earlier this month in China and Japan.

Earlier, Elon Musk’s Tesla had recalled nearly 2 million of its cars in the U.S. to limit the use of its Autopilot feature. The move came in light of 1,000 crashes in which the feature was engaged. The U.S. safety regulators launched a two-year probe concerning the accident.
