Royal Enfield Classic 650 India launch Soon In The Same Ballpark As Shotgun 650, Super Meteor 650
The debut date of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is set for March 27. It is a combination of Royal Enfield’s beloved parallel twin engine and its best-selling model, the Classic 350. With the same peak power of 47 horsepower and 52 Nm, the well-proven 648cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine will power the Royal Enfield Classic 650. It will be coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
The 648cc engine has been in use for a long time and is found in many Royal Enfield vehicles, including the Continental GT, Bear 650, Super Meteor 650, and Interceptor 650. The Classic 650 Twin shares the Shotgun 650’s internal ratios and final drive gearing. Along with having the same suspension travel—120mm up front and 90mm down back—the Classic 650 and the Shotgun share the same foundation, including the main frame, brakes, swingarm, and twin shock absorbers.
The Shotgun’s 18/17-inch (F/R) alloy wheel combination contrasts with the Classic 650 Twin’s vintage 19/18-inch (F/R) wire-spoke wheel layout. The Classic 650 rides on brand-new tires made especially for it, the MRF Nylohigh. The Classic 650 will be the heaviest RE when it arrives on sale, weighing 243 kg, 2 kg more than the Super Meteor and 1 kilogram more than the Shotgun.
The Classic 650 will be available in four colours – Red, Blue, Teal and Black Chrome – and is likely to be priced in line with its siblings, the Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650. For reference, the Super Meteor starts at Rs 3.64 lakh and the Shotgun at Rs 3.59 lakh.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650, set to launch on March 27, blends the timeless appeal of the Classic 350 with the power of a 648cc parallel-twin engine. Sharing underpinnings with the Shotgun 650, it features retro wire-spoke wheels and new MRF Nylohigh tyres. Weighing 243kg, it will be the heaviest Royal Enfield bike yet. Available in four colors—Red, Blue, Teal, and Black Chrome—it is expected to be priced similarly to the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650, starting around Rs 3.6 lakh. This launch marks another milestone in Royal Enfield’s legacy of classic yet powerful motorcycles.
