The Classic 650 has finally been released by Royal Enfield in India, with an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 3.37 lakh. The Chennai-based bike maker has produced six 650cc models, including the Interceptor, Continental GT, Super Meteor, Shotgun, and Bear. Since early this year, the bike has been available for purchase in a few foreign regions after making its world premiere at EICMA in November 2024.

Around the same time, reservations for the Classic 650 started to be made in India. There are three versions of the Classic 650 available from Enfield: Hotrod, Classic, and Chrome. The latter two have ex-showroom prices of Rs 3.41 lakh and Rs 3.50 lakh, respectively. The Classic 650 shares a platform with the Shotgun 650 and Super Meteor 650, however it has certain modifications.

Visually, the all-new Classic 650 is almost identical to its 350cc namesake. The Classic 650 boasts a round LED headlight with distinctive ‘tiger lights’ or pilot lamps, a streamlined teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a solo seat, with an optional pillion seat available. It is driven by a parallel-twin engine and features twin exhausts, akin to other 650cc models, except for the Bear 650.

The Classic 650’s features include a Type-C charging connector, the Tripper navigation pod, and a display that is partially digital and partially analog. It uses the same swingarm, sub-frame, and main frame as the Shotgun 650 and Super Meteor 650. The 650cc Classic is supported by twin rear forks with a 90mm travel and 43mm telescopic front forks with a 120mm wheel travel.

The wire-spoke wheels on the modern classic motorbike are 19 inches in front and 18 inches in back. A front 320mm disc brake and a rear 300mm disc brake, along with standard dual-channel ABS, manage braking duties. The gasoline tank holds 14.8 liters, the ground clearance is 154 mm, and the seat height is 800 mm.
A well-known 648cc parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine that powers the other Royal Enfield 650cc models powers the Royal Enfield Classic 650. This motor, which is connected to a 6-speed gearbox by a slip and assist clutch, produces 46.4 horsepower and 52.3 Nm of peak torque.
