Royal Enfield 650 Twin Based One-Off Vintage Bike Revealed; Launch Likely Soon

The Royal Enfield Project Delta combines contemporary engineering with classic styling. In collaboration with “Purpose Built Moto,” the company has developed a unique Super Meteor 650 that draws inspiration from the Flying Flea from World War II, the Super Meteor 700, and the motorcycles of the 1940s and 1950s. Project Delta combines a contemporary 650cc parallel twin Royal Enfield with retro styling.

Inspired by the historical motorcycling era of the 1940s and 1950s, Project Delta is a redesign of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. This bespoke build by “Purpose Built Moto” demonstrates how contemporary engineering and traditional design can coexist.

In addition to adding contemporary features like a monoshock conversion and an in-frame oil cooler, the motorcycle’s frame has undergone significant modification to mimic antique hardtail design. The period-appropriate appearance is enhanced by the spoked wheels, 23-inch front, and 19-inch rear, as well as the handmade girder fork. According to the company, the 1952 Super Meteor 700 served as the model for the slender peanut tank.

The girder fork, solid-mounted bars, and hand-shifted gears are reminiscent of 1940s motorcycles. Project Delta has custom Art Nouveau-inspired black, gold, and cherry red painting.

The Project Delta has the same 648cc, air and oil cooled, parallel twin motor that produces 47 horsepower and 52 Nm since it is a contemporary version of a pre-World War II motorcycle. Although Project Delta appears to be a fantastic collectible, it is only a prototype and will never be implemented. However, it’s intriguing to observe how manufacturers go above and beyond with unique prototypes.

Project Delta, which skillfully combines classic design elements with cutting-edge technology, is a magnificent homage to Royal Enfield’s long history. Inspired by the heyday of motorcycles, this customized Super Meteor 650 blends modern engineering with a touch of nostalgia. It is a real masterpiece because of the handcrafted elements, such as the hand-shifted gears and the girder fork. Even though it is still a one-off prototype, it demonstrates Royal Enfield’s commitment to maintaining the tradition of vintage motorcycles. Project Delta will surely inspire future builds and strengthen the brand’s heritage in custom motorcycles, even though devotees won’t see it go into production.
