Skoda's Epiq Electric SUV: Pioneering Design And Sustainable Mobility

Skoda has unveiled its highly anticipated entry-level electric SUV concept, the Epiq, following its global debut in 2025. Set to potentially arrive in India by 2026, the Epiq represents one of the six pure electric vehicles (EV) planned by the Czech carmaker by the end of the decade. With an estimated price tag of 25,000 Euros (approximately Rs 22.57 lakh) in Europe, the Epiq is set to introduce a new era of modernity, both inside and out, based on Skoda”s innovative Modern Solid design philosophy.

The exterior design of the Skoda Epiq concept exudes a futuristic appeal, showcasing elements that may not necessarily make it to the final production model. The front fascia features a repositioned butterfly grille, now situated on the lower half, along with bifunctional, T-shaped LED DRLs and indicators. The unique Tech-Deck Face is complemented by cubist-inspired headlamp clusters featuring Matrix LED technology. The side profile is accentuated by a sweeping tornado line, while the rear boasts a robust bumper and Škoda lettering in Dark Chrome, lending it a distinctive appearance.

Inside the cabin, the Modern Solid theme continues, offering a blend of sophistication and functionality. The Epiq concept boasts an open storage compartment with a wireless mobile phone charger, while the 490-litre boot provides ample space for cargo with additional features such as bag hooks and cargo elements. The interior is further enhanced by a two-spoke steering wheel featuring Škoda lettering, a digital instrument console, and a large floating touchscreen infotainment display. Notably, the Epiq will also introduce a mobile digital key system, allowing users to control various functions via smartphone.

Under the hood, the Skoda Epiq is expected to feature an all-electric powertrain based on the modular electric drive platform (MEB) platform, shared with the Volkswagen ID.2. While specific details about the powertrain are yet to be revealed, the Epiq is anticipated to offer a range of approximately 400 km on a single charge. It is likely to be offered as a front-wheel drive configuration to optimize packaging and efficiency.

Overall, the Skoda Epiq concept represents a significant step towards the brand”s electrification goals, combining cutting-edge design with advanced technology and sustainable mobility solutions. As it gears up for potential launch in India and other markets, the Epiq promises to redefine the electric SUV segment, offering consumers a compelling blend of performance, practicality, and innovation in the electric vehicle space.
