Aviation Ministry Announces War-rooms And Other Measures To Address Passenger Issues

“In view of the fog-induced disruptions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on mitigating passenger inconvenience were issued yesterday to all the airlines and in addition to these SOPs”, aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Tuesday. The minister has introduced a six-point action plan to handle disruptions posed by fog, which in turn affect the delay or cancellation of several domestic and international flight operations.

Jyotiraditya Scindia lists down the plans in his social media platform X. As the first plan, the aviation ministry has sought incidence reporting thrice daily for all the 6 metro airports.

Secondly, the implementation of the DGCA guidelines, SOPs, and said CARs will be monitored and reported regularly.

“‘War Rooms’ will be set up by airports and airline operators at the 6 Metro Airports to address any issues with regard to passenger inconvenience with immediacy.” the minister said as third point of action.

As the next plan, sufficient CISF manpower availability will be ensured round-the-clock, the minister said.

He has also said runway 29L at Delhi Airport has been made CAT III operational today.

“Operationalization of RWY 10/28 as CAT III at Delhi Airport after re-carpeting will also be undertaken,” he added as sixth plan of action.

Delhi, witnessing the unprecedented dense fog condition for the past few days, has been affecting the road, rail, and flight operations. The dipped in visibility led the delay in flights, flights getting diverted, and even cancellation.
