Epigamia Co-Founder Rohan Mirchandani Dies At 41 due to heart attack.

Rohan Mirchandani, the co-founder of Epigamia which is a popular Greek yogurt brand in India died at the age of 41 on December 20 due to a heart attack, as reported by Moneycontrol.

Mirchandani, an alumnus of NYU Stern and Wharton School, co-founded Drums Food International in 2013 which is the parent company of Epigamia. He had a vision to innovate in the FMCG industry which led him to start his own business.

Epigamia is a pioneering Indian FMCG start-up, headquartered in Mumbai, India. Founded in 2015 by Rohan Mirchandani, the company specialises in crafting fresh and healthy dairy products, as well as dairy alternatives.

Epigamia’s journey began with the launch of Greek Yogurts, crafted by straining regular yoghurt to boost protein content and infusing it with real fruit. This healthier and tastier alternative marked the beginning of Epigamia’s expansion into a diverse portfolio of fresh and preservative-free products.

As the flagship brand of Drums Food International, Epigamia operated alongside Hokey Pokey Super Premium Ice Creams, another popular brand under the same umbrella.

Later, Hokey Pokey ice cream, pivoted to the Epigamia yogurt brand. The company has gained popularity in top cities with its flavoured Greek yoghurt offerings.

Epigamia’s co-founder Rohan Mirchandani transitioned into the role of Executive Chairman in December 2023. Concurrently, co-founder Rahul Jain took over as Co-Founder and CEO, while Ankur Goel, a founding member was promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing supply chain and business intelligence functions.

As part of the company’s strategic growth plans, Mirchandani revealed ambitions to aggressively expand Epigamia’s presence in the quick commerce channel. The company aims to achieve a significant revenue milestone of Rs 250 crore in FY25, underscoring its commitment to rapid growth and innovation.

As of December 2023, Epigamia is retailed across 20,000 touchpoints in more than 30 towns and was planning to expand to the Middle East by 2025-26.

The brand’s retail network includes: Reliance Fresh, Godrej Nature’s Basket, Future Group, Foodhall, Big Bazaar, and Hypercity which is also available on e-commerce platforms like Big Basket and Amazon and in numerous local stores and retailers.

In addition, Epigamia launched its Direct-to-Consumer online platform in 2020, serving customers in Tier 1 and 2 cities across India.
