India Introduces New e-Business Visa For Chinese Nationals
India has launched a new electronic business visa for Chinese nationals in a move aimed at strengthening economic and investment ties between the two countries.
The new visa, officially called the e-Production Investment Business Visa (e-B-4), is designed to make it easier for Chinese business professionals to travel to India for specific work-related purposes.
According to an advisory issued by the Indian Embassy, the e-B-4 visa allows Chinese citizens to visit India for key business activities linked to production and investment projects.
These include the installation and commissioning of machinery, quality checks, essential maintenance work, production-related tasks, IT and ERP system setup, training of staff, supply chain development, and plant design.

Senior management and executives involved in such projects are also eligible under this category.
One of the major advantages of the new visa is that it can be applied for completely online, without the need to visit an Indian embassy or use middlemen.
Applicants can submit their forms and required documents through the official Indian e-Visa portal under the “For e-Visa by Bureau of Immigration” section. This digital process is expected to reduce paperwork and make the system faster and more transparent.
The processing time for the e-B-4 visa is estimated to be 45 to 50 days. Once approved, visa holders can stay in India for up to six months, giving them enough time to complete important business assignments and oversee project execution.
Indian companies can also play a role in the application process. Firms that wish to invite Chinese professionals for business purposes can apply on their behalf by registering on the National Single Window System (NSWS) portal managed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

This option is expected to simplify coordination between Indian businesses and foreign partners.
The introduction of the e-B-4 visa comes amid growing demand for business travel between India and China, especially in sectors such as manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, and supply chain development.
Officials say the move is part of broader, people-focused steps agreed upon by both sides to reset and improve bilateral relations.
