Infosys Employees To Work From Office 3 Days A Week Soon

Infosys is pressing its employees to return to the office at least three days a week, The Economic Times reports. India’s second-largest IT services provider intends to make this decision mandatory shortly as the previous requirements of the same went largely unheeded. The latest decision came when Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy repeatedly underlined the importance of longer hours of work for boosting productivity and economic growth.

“Please start coming to office at least 3 days a week. It will become mandatory very shortly.” ET quotes an email sent by vertical heads, the Bangalore-based software company. The email expressed dissatisfaction over employees lukewarm response to company”s multiple requests concerning return-to-office, and company underlined that the three years of work from home arrangement following the pandemic was more than enough. It further added that except medical reasons, employees must start coming to office.

Besides, the management was not happy with some delivery units (DUs) were often be empty, and therefore, they go after immediate attendance at campuses where it operates offshore development centres (ODCs) for clients, ET reports. Nonetheless, Infosys is free to consider health- issues of the employees on a case-by-case basis, report added.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, eligible Infosys employees had the choice to work from home for nine days in a month. When the new rule is made into practice, the attendance system will go back to the pre-pandemic pattern. In November, Infosys urged select employees to work from office for 10 days in a month, staring on November 20. At that time, firm said that they wanted to scale up physical proximity with teams and colleagues at the same time maintaining the flexibility of remote work.
