In a significant milestone for India’s automotive industry, a consignment of over 1,600 ‘Made in India’ SUVs from Maruti Corporation has been exported to Japan for the first time. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal hailed this development as a proud moment for the country, highlighting the success of the Modi Government’s policies aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing.

Minister Goyal, after sharing the images of the consignment, emphasised that the government’s decade-long focus on enhancing the quality of locally produced goods has elevated ‘Brand India’ on the global stage. He noted that these efforts have not only strengthened the manufacturing sector but have also positioned India as a key player in the international market.

Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday said it has commenced export of its sports utility vehicle Fronx to Japan. The first consignment of over 1,600 vehicles left for Japan from Gujarat’s Pipavav port, the country’s largest carmaker said in a statement. Fronx will be the first SUV from the Maruti Suzuki stable to be launched in Japan, it added.

Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi stated that Japan is one of the most quality-conscious and considered the most advanced automobile market in the world. the company has high quality and standards along with exceptional features and cutting-edge technology. It will be wholly accepted by the Japanese customers, he added.

The company witnessed a swift 1 lakh sales within ten months as it was been marked as a company to clock this many sales within one year. Maruti Corporation holds a 42 per cent share in the export of passenger vehicles from India. In the previous year,  the company exported its ‘Fronx’ to other countries like Africa, Latin America and the Middle East with a sales record of over 2 lakh units in exporting as well as in domestic markets.
