
Meet Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Who Ranked Third Richest Person After Ambani, Adani (Photo on X @Schumy_Official)
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO, HCL Corporation & Chairperson, HCL Technologies, has become the third-richest Indian, and the wealthiest Indian woman. The 43-year-old Roshni claimed the position after her father and founder of HCL, Shiv Nadar, transferred her with his 47% stake in HCL Corporation and Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi).
The development contributed to Roshni’s ascension as the wealthiest Indian woman by significantly enhancing her net worth. As per the Bloomberg Billionaires – India list, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani and Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani hold the first and second positions with a net worth of $88.1 billion and $68.9 billion, respectively.

Shiv Nadar was the third-richest Indian with a net worth of $35.9 billion previously, and with the HCL founder transferring his stake to his daughter, Roshini attained the third rank. Currently, Vama Sundari Investment, which ranks ninth among the Top 30 midcap companies by valuation, holds a 44.7 1 percent stake in HCL, valued at Rs 186,782 crore.
Born in 1982, and raised in New Delhi, Roshni studied at Vasant Valley school in the capital city. She moved to the United States and completed her Bachelor’s degree in communication from Northwestern University. She also completed her Master of Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management. She is also a trained classical musician.

Padma Bhushan awardee, Shiv Nadar, is known for transforming his business into a key player in the country. He is also the founder of the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. In July 2020, his daughter, Roshni, the only child of the business executive, took charge as HCL’s chairperson, replacing her father. She is also a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which is focused on education and has established some of India’s top colleges and schools.
Roshni will now be responsible for strategic decisions for HCL, a $12 billion technology company. She is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the MIT School of Engineering, USA, and serves on the Kellogg School of Management Executive Board for Asia, and is also a board member of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and a global board director at The Nature Conservancy (TNC). She also serves as an independent board member at HDFC Asset Management Company. In 2020, Roshni married Shikhar Malhotra, vice chair of HCL Healthcare, and the couple have two children.
