With 72,000 Crores, AMUL To Be India’s Largest FMCG

AMUL, an Indian cooperative society, took to its X handle to say that it has achieved an 18 % growth rate for 2022-23 and that the company with a turnover of 72,000 crores, that is approximately 9 billion dollars, and the cooperative has now become India’s largest FMCG brand with the new numbers.

This year also marks the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets AMUL. It began in1973, with six members and 121 crores turnover, now stands at, a turnover of 72,000 crores with 18-member unions. In 2022-2023, it added 11,000 crores more to business.

At the the annual general meeting of AMUL held on Saturday, President Shamalbhai Patel said that the aim was to bring in a turnover of Rs. 1 lakh crores in the coming 2 to 3 years, by having a global reach. He added that the self-reliance model pursued by AMUL is a fine example of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, reported Indiancooperative.com. AMUL, currently holds the position of the 8th largest dairy company in the world.

Managing Director, Jayen Mehta talked of the increase in consumption in key categories, Amul’s milk-based beverages went up by 34%, ice-creams went up by 40%, 19% in the case of butter and a 9% increase in the consumption of ghee. AMUL long life milk registered a 20% growth, 40% for dahi (curd) and 16 percent increase in the case of buttermilk.

Vice President Valamji Honbal talked about the growth of GCMMF, saying that the world market held growth opportunities citing, AMUL had its presence in over 50 countries and are expanding to other strategic markets too, reported etvbharat.com.
