SBI Foundation has invited applications for the 12th SBI YFI and interest candidates may apply by visiting the official website – www.youthforindia.org.

It’s a 13-month-long program that offers opportunities to young individuals the age of 21-32 years, to collaborate with rural communities and 13 NGOs across India. Applicants must be Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) or Citizens of Bhutan and Nepal.

The fellowship launched, in 2011, offers a framework for the bright young minds of India to collaborate with rural people, understand their challenges, and relate to their goals. Selected fellows from leading institutions and corporations collaborate with seasoned non-governmental organizations on demanding development initiatives.

The selected candidates under the fellowship programme work on 12 thematic areas which include Health, Rural Livelihood, Food Security, Environmental Protection, Education, Water, Technology, Women’s Empowerment, Self-Governance, Social Entrepreneurship, Traditional Craft, and Alternate Energy. The selected fellows choose only one area of interest to work with.

The SBI-YFI fellowship has a rigorous application process, with an online assessment of the application followed by an in-person interview with the selection committee across multiple locations.

Reportedly, the fellowship has provided over the past ten years a thriving network of more than 300 graduates, the majority of whom are still actively committed to the development sector and are currently employed in a variety of disciplines.

According to SBI, the initiative has significantly impacted over 1.5 lakh lives through the interventions of the fellows in over 250 villages across 20 States in India, utilizing a network of over 580 individuals.
