The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) moulding the curriculum to make it more practical and progressive introduced chapters relating to popular terms including dating and relationship, cyberbullying and catfishing in the Value Education books for class 9.

New chapters introduced in the curriculum delve into the nuances of relationship, special friendships, crushes and discusses popular terms such as catfishing, ghosting, cyberbullying. Under the curriculum the topics are explained via simple stories and examples.

Incorporation of these chapters drew appreciation on social media platforms. One user appreciated, “it”s amazing if the system accepts this and includes topics like these in the curriculum. helping kids understand this complex dynamic is far better than how dating was treated back in our days.”

People also seemed comparing the awkwardness during their school time due to lack of openness regarding these subjects. “Meanwhile, during my school days, they skipped the reproduction chapter each year until grade 10.”, wrote another user.

During the changing relationships meaning for today’s youth and in the era of internet where kids and youths are exposed to plethora of stuff online. It is noticeable that according to a recent national survey in India that indicates that among Indian youth 60% of children between the ages of 9 and 17 spend more than three hours a day on social media sites.
