Centre Decides To Cancel NEET UG-2024 Score Cards Of 1563 Candidates, Informs Supreme Court

As per the recent development to the NEET UG-2024 examination, the Centre has informed the Supreme Court that it has decided to cancel the scorecard of 1563 candidates who were granted with grace marks. The Centre also stated that the candidate will be given an option take re-test.

This decision came in response to the allegation of unfair means during the examination process. Centre by announcing its current decision said that this move is to ensure fairness and integrity in the examination process. The Centre has also detailed the steps taken. A committee meeting was held on June 10, 11 and 12 to investigate the allegations. Based on the discussion, the scorecards of the affected candidates was decided to be cancelled.

The re-examination will be held on June 23 and the results will be declared before June 30, NTA has informed the top court. And those who do not want to take the re-test can retain their pre-normalization scores.

The Supreme Court has affirmed that its decision will not halt the counselling process for NEET-UG 2024. The apex court was hearing petitions related to the controversy surrounding the NEET UG, 2024. “Counselling will go on and we will not stop it. If the exams goes then everything goes in totality so nothing to fear”.

Hearing the case on Thursday, a vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta accepted the NTA’s suggestion of cancelation of the score cards of the 1563 students. The agency has said that they would release the revised marksheet without grace marks.

The court has asked the NTA to release the mark sheet after re-examination ahead of the counselling so that the admission process will not get affected.

The apex court will hear the pleas regarding the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 examinations and allegations of malpractices on July 8.
