The Delhi High Court has directed Delhi University to announce the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) election results by November 26, 2024. The court has asked the university to undertake the counting of votes provided all the sites that were defaced by the contesting candidates are cleaned up and repainted within a weak.
Earlier, the court had ordered not to declare the results till the cleaning of the campus after the elections is done. The process of counting was halted in the wake of candidates indulging in acts of vandalism and defacement of public and private properties.

Reportedly, the vote counting and result announcement for the student union elections are expected to be completed by November 16. The DUSU elections took place on September 27, with 1.45 lakh students cast their votes.
The Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) 2024 election results have been delayed due to the damage to public property allegedly done by the DUSU candidates. Earlier, the election results were set to be declared by September 28, however, the high court halted the counting process and directed towards the need to restore the affected property. The court’s motive behind delaying the election result was to convey a strict message to students against such destructive actions, instead of disrupting the election process.

Delhi University’s counsel has submitted to the Chief Election Officer that nearly all the colleges, departments, and facilities in North and South campuses have been cleaned up and no defacement is visible now.
