DU Prepares To Prevent Hooliganism and Rowdy Conduct On Campus During Holi

The University of Delhi has taken internal and external security arrangements on the campus, hostels, and the colleges during Holi celebrations to counter any possible acts of hooliganism or rowdy conduct particularly targeting women students.

The festival of Holi is going to be celebrated on March 25, 2024, and the campus has taken the ‘Holi Mood’ already. In this regard, the university administration with the law-and-order authorities, proctorial board, dean students’ welfare office, and security personnel are determined to maintain strict vigilance and enforce discipline.

A Joint Control Room has been set up in the North and South Campuses of the university to ensure discipline and safety. The university has also made provision for Mobile Patrolling by the security staff of the University and law enforcement officials on the campus. A Campus Security Vehicle (Vamika) of the Police has also been flagged to ensure 24*7 surveillance around the campus.

As per the notification released by the university, the administration has warned to take possible disciplinary action against hooliganism and disturbance. The university has taken the initiative to ensure safety and security so that the sentiment and dignity of any student and staff on the campus are not hurt during the festivities.

The university administration has also ensured full cooperation with the police to have a safe and secure Holi festival.

Every year the festival of Holi Delhi University issues directives to ensure the safety and security of students and staff on campus. The principals, heads of departments, and provosts of halls or hostels were advised to form a committee of teachers, students, and karamcharis to ensure the prevention of the entry of outsiders into the campus. Earlier, those who were found to be indulging in such acts of indiscipline and causing harassment were subjected to be tried under the provision of University Ordinances, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act 2013.
