DUSU Election Result: NSUI Secures President And Joint Secretary Posts, ABVP Also Two Posts

DUSU 2024 election results have been announced today, on November 25 witnessing a close contest between NSUI and ABVP. Both the student political parties have secured two-two posts in the DUSU 2024 elections. As per the results, NSUI secured President and Joint Secretary posts and ABVP has grabbed Vice President, and Secretary positions in the DUSU 2024 elections.

The election results were announced after a two months delay after a court order, which required the removal of defacement material, including posters, hoardings, and graffiti, from the university premises. In the college-level elections, ABVP has achieved a clean sweep in five colleges, while NSUI secured all positions in two colleges.

There was a close competition between both NSUI and ABVP. For the post of President, NSUI’s candidate Raunak Khatri has won, while ABVP’s Bhanu Pratap has secured the Vice President position. ABVP’s Mitravinda Karanwal has won the Secretary position, and NSUI’s Lokesh Choudhary has secured the Joint Secretary position.

The Delhi High Court directed the vote counting after cleaning up and restoration of university property damaged during the election campaign. Over 190 spaces were identified for cleanup in the university. The decision to delay the counting process came after an inspection committee found that despite the significant progress, several areas were still not completely cleaned.

Amid the ongoing election vote count, the Delhi University has mandated that the candidates contesting for the DUSU elections sign an affidavit to refrain from using loudspeakers, firecrackers, pamphlets and dhols once the results are announced. Also roadshows or rallies have been strictly prohibited. The affidavit says that any violation to these conditions will lead to the disqulalification of the elected candidate or cancellation of the win.
