ABVP Female Joint Secretary Assaults DU Professor On Campus
In a viral video online, the DUSU joint secretary and Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad member Deepika Jha was seen assaulting a university professor inside the principal’s office in the presence of other ABVP candidates and police personnel. NSUI has released the video and is demanding strict action against the DUSU secretary, Deepika Jha.
The incident happened during an altercation between the professor and the joint secretary. In the viral video, the DU’s B.R. Ambedkar College professor Sujit Kumar was seen sitting on the couch and discussing Deepika Jha. Deepika suddenly rose and assaulted the professor.

The video was widely criticised by the students and netizens, calling it the misuse of power by the student leaders on campus.

Notably, prof Sujit Kumar is the convenor of the disciplinary committee of BRAC looking into the recent cases of violence against the students by ABVP members.
Following the incident, the DU Teacher Federation has issued a statement condemning the assault on the professor. “All members of the Disciplinary Committee have resigned. Teachers cannot function if they cannot be protected”, it stated.
“We condemn this act of the DUSU President and Joint Secretary in the strongest terms. We find it absurd that the Police did not intervene effectively”, DTF said.
The teachers’ association has demanded a university-level inquiry into the matter and strict action against the student.
