Ernakulam district is declared the first district in the state to achieve complete digital literacy. District collector NSK Umesh and district panchayat president Manoj Moothedan made the announcement. The announcement came after the results of a survey conducted by the administration.
A survey was conducted with 8,36,648 households and 1.92,883 individuals were found as digitally illiterate. The whole selected population was made digitally literate with the help of various voluntary organizations, colleges, Kudumbashree, and the literacy mission.
The Kochi corporation conducted the surveys in the districts, covering 1,47,392 individuals. It also had the highest number of literate, with 11,958 people gaining digital literacy. Among the municipalities, Thrippunithura conducted the most surveys with 24,438 individuals, while Kalamassery had the highest number of literates at 5,938.

At the Panchayat level, Edathala conducted the highest number of surveys, with 15,270 individuals, and also had the highest number of literates with 7,309 individuals gaining digital literacy. Muvattupuzha municipality was declared the first municipality and Ayavana panchyat the first panchyat to achieve complete digital literacy.
Muvattupuzha was also announced the first constitutency in the country to achieve complete digital literacy under the ‘DG Kerala’ project on September 30.
Abdullah Maulavi (99 years) from Asamannor Pachayat declared as the oldest person to achieve digital litracy in the district.
