A shocking incident of a newborn baby’s death was reported on Friday in a residential village in Vidyanagar of Panampilly Nagar, Kerala. The newborn was hurled to death in the heart of the Kochi on May 3 morning.       

According to the eyewitness, the baby was wrapped in a packet and was hurled to the road. The baby was reportedly one day old. 

As per the latest reports, the police took a woman and her parents into custody in connection with the death after the cops detected the blood stains in their apartment. The Police Commissioner Syamsundar said, “It is suspected that the woman was raped and impregnated. The parents were unaware of the incident”. 

He further added that it is unsure whether it is a case of stillbirth or not and can only be confirmed through autopsy. Two cases will be charged, on murder as well as alleged rape

The man, a long-term resident at the complex, his wife, and his 23-year-old daughter were taken into custody after the police narrowed down their search with the help of the address on the courier cover used to wrap the child. The man lives on the fifth floor of the apartment along with his wife, daughter, and elderly mother. As per the sources, the parents were unaware of their daughter’s pregnancy. 

The body was found by the cleaning workers. CCTV footage of the baby being discarded from the apartment was retrieved. The package was hurled at 8:15 am. 

According to the flat owners, there are 21 flats in the area, three are empty. The security guards also said that he had not found anyone suspicious in the complex.
