Rajasthan Govt Orders Probe Into Madrasa Board And Mid Day Meal Scheme Alleged Irregularities

Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar ordered a fresh probe into alleged irregularities in the Madrasa Board and mid-day meal scheme under the previous government’s tenure. The enquiry follows concerns regarding mismanagement and financial discrepancies in the implementation of these schemes.

The Education Minister said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of transferring funds directly to parents’ accounts as advised by the Finance Department, the Education Department chose to distribute food materials. Also, food material was allocated to 66.22 lakh students, despite an official student enrollment of 59.81 lakh, raising questions over inflated figures and possible mismanagement of funds.

Following a CAG report, Dilawar alleged that a scam of worth Rs 1,705 had happened in procurement tenders.

The minister also ordered a thorough probe into suspected corruption in the distribution of uniforms under the Madrasa Board.

Also, the education minister told to implement primary education in the mother tounge or local language following the National Education Policy (NEP). He informed that a dictionary has been developed to aid in this transition and textbooks are being designed according to the NEP guidelines.

Furthermore, Dilawar announced that in a bid to standardize the appearence of government schools, all state-run schools will be painted in the same colour.
