Admission process for 18 Atal Residential Schools (Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas – AAVs) in Uttar Pradesh has started for Class 6 and 9. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held in the month of February for AAVs of different districts. A total 2,520 seats are available for admission to Class 6 and 2,520 seats are available for Class 9.
Applications are invited by Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya, Kanpur for total 140 seats for class 6th students and 140 seats for class 9th. The examination will be conducted on February 29, 2024.
27% of the available seats will be set aside for OBC students, 21% for Scheduled Caste students, and 2% for Scheduled Tribe students in accordance with the quota criterion. According to the state administration, there would be an equal number of seats for boys and girls overall.
An entrance exam of two hours will be held in Hindi and English for admission. Students with disabilities will receive an extra forty minutes. Examination for Class 6 will include 80 questions based on Mental Ability, Arithmetic and Language. For Class 9 admission a total 100 marks test will include questions from English, Hindi, Mathematics and Science.
Construction workers” children must have completed a minimum of three years of board membership following registration as of December 31, 2023. Each family may only apply with a maximum of two children.
UP government established residential schools for children of labourers, construction workers and orphaned during COVID-19, registered under PBOCW Board. In September 2023, 16 residential schools were inaugurated by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi. The following places have these schools: Azamgarh, Basti, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Bulandshahr (Meerut), Gonda, Gorakhpur, Lalitpur (Jhansi), Prayagraj, Sonbhadra (Mirzapur), Muzaffarnagar (Saharanpur), Banda, Aligarh, Agra, Varanasi, Kanpur, Bareilly, and Moradabad.
In the initial phase, Atal Residential Schools were being established in 18 district headquarters. These schools will be extended to the remaining 57 districts in the subsequent phase. The schools are administered by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Labour Department, UP. Atal Residential School Committed has set standards for quality in education.
