US Federal Court Overturns Trump Funding Cuts To Harvard
A US federal court judge has overturned the decision taken by President Donald Trump to cut billions of dollars the funding to Harvard University. The judge has ruled that the government has violated the Ivy League college’s free speech rights while revoking about $2bn in research grants.
The ruling is seen as a major legal victory for Harvard, but the White House has reportedly said it to appeal against the federal court’s decision.
The Trump administration froze the funding in April for the university’s alleged involvement in antisemitism, radical left ideologies, and racial bias.
“Harvard does not have a constitutional right to taxpayer dollars and remains ineligible for grants in the future”, Liz Huston, Assistant press secretary, had said.

Alan Garber, the president of the university, said, “The ruling affirms Harvard’s First Amendment and procedural rights”.
Earlier, a federal judge had blocked the US President Donald Trump administration’s move to ban foreign students from entering the country on Harvard University-sponsored F and J visas, reported The Harvard Crimson. The preliminary injunction was made halting the June 4 proclamation banning students from entering the country.
The federal judge, Allison D. Burroughs, issued a 44-page order that came just hours before the expiry of an earlier temporary block imposed on the government’s proclamation.
