'Not Charity': Nepal Seeks Climate Compensation From US, India And China For Deadly Flash Floods

Kathmandu, Nepal: Following the deadly flash flood in the Nepal that left hundreds killed and thousands missing, the Himalayan nation is now seeking climate-related compensation from the United States, India, and China.

Nepal has named these three nations as the major greenhouse emitters, which resulted in the catastrophic flash floods in the Bhotkoshi River that swept away villages across at least three districts in the country.

Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal asserted that post-disaster aid should be treated as a matter of “moral liability,” “not charity.” Death toll has reached nearly 1,200 people as search operation continues for thousands of missing people.

Dead bodies are being recovered from the flood ravaged areas and tourist locations.
