Nepal Flash Flood: Nearly 800 Killed, 3000 Missing As Search Continues

Nepal: Search continues for around 3,000 people, still missing including foreigners, in the deadly Nepal flash flood on Wednesday. According to Nepal’s disaster agency, the total number of people missing on its side of the border fell to 2,426 on Saturday. So far, at least 750 people have been killed in Nepal and 16 in China. The authorities are struggling to cope with the mounting number of casualties.

According to China’s state broadcaster CCTV, the total number of missing in Tibet is now at 546, with 16 people confirmed dead.

Notably, authorities in Nepal are warning of possible fresh flooding on Sunday, urging the residents in flood-affected districts to remain on high alert after water levels rose in the Bhotekoshi River.

Flood warning notices were sent to people’s phones throughout Sunday morning, as rescue crews worked to clear a major highway connecting Kathmandu to one of the areas worst-hit by the rececnt catasrophic floods.

The latest warnings came after Chinese authorities informed their Nepalese counterparts of increased water flow upstream.
