USIEF Announced Fullbright – Nehru And Other Fullbright Fellowships

The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) announced the Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowships for the academic year 2025-26. Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowships for its annual competition through official website.

Fulbright-Nehru Awards enable the most outstanding students, academics and professionals in India and the U.S. to study, research and teach. Scholars are selected via a rigorous application and interview process. After the selection process, awardees receive support for visa processing, secure health assurance and a comprehensive pre-departure orientation.

Fellowships for Indian Citizens lies in the following categories including, Student awards to pursue a master”s degree or attend a U.S. university as a visiting student researcher; Scholars and teacher awards for academics, teachers and professionals to teach or conduct research in the U.S. and Professional development programs for university administrators to develop leadership and specialized skills.

The applications are evaluated following a set criterion including, academic credentials and professional abilities, communication skills, commitment to community or national service, need to conduct research in US, outcomes, potential impacts and benefits, motivation, seriousness of purpose, maturity leadership, cultural adaptability and ability to contribute as a cultural ambassador beyond his/her specific field of study.

Selection committees look to identify the talent and project which are relevant for India and United States. Committee’s focus remines on the potential talent who can be effective future cultural ambassadors. Throughout the year, USIEF arranges events and assistance, such as an August orientation for newcomers and a March Fulbright Review Conference.

The followships are funded by the US Department of State and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
