What Is 'Sugar Boards' Initiative Of CBSE?
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the ‘Sugar Boards’ initiative to combat rising type 2 diabetes and obesity among Indian schoolchildren. PM Modi also highlighted its importance during his Mann Ki Baat address on May 25, 2025.
The initiative is prompted by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which mandates schools to install sugar boards by July 15, 2025. It aims to foster long-term healthy habits by displaying sugary content facts and health risks. This will help in raising awareness among students about their sugar intake.
