TMC Diamond Harbour candidate and Mamata Banerjee”s Nephew Abhishek Banerjee is all set to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 on June 1, in Phase 7.

BJP candidate Abhijit Das will face Abhishek Banerjee in the upcoming election. The TMC supremo”s nephew, who is considered number two in the TMC, has won the Diamond Harbour constituency twice in 2014 and 2019. Between the last two elections, Abhishek Banerjee”s vote share widened by over 15% from 40.31% (in 2014) to 56.15% (in 2019) in the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency.

While campaigning Abhishek Banerjee claimed that in the previous six phases, the BJP”s backbone has already been broken and the last phase on June 1 will fix the last nail in its coffin. The AITC, national general secretary alleged that BJP leaders were not present when Cyclone Remal brought destruction they only come during election time to seek votes.

Mr. Banerjee touched the insider vs outsider cord during the election campaign by calling himself the son of the soil and alleging that BJP was an outsider party. He urged people not to vote for the BJP by describing its leaders as “outsiders” and “migratory birds”

Abhishek Banerjee also revealed BJP”s plan to terminate the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme that target the poor, within 3 months if voted to power.

During a recent election rally, the TMC leader also invited Union Home Minister Amit Shah to contest against him from the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency. Banerjee stated to retire from active politics if he lost the election. The number two in the TMC also asked the central government to release the state”s dues of Rs 1,64,000 crore and funds under PM Awas Yojna, which is allegedly withheld by the BJP government.

Notably, BJP leader Amit Shah accused TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee wants his nephew to be the next chief minister of West Bengal.

The TMC leader claimed that his party had already “crossed 23” seats out of the 33 Lok Sabha seats that went to the polls in the last 6 phases. Abhishek Banerjee also said that the INDIA alliance is going to form the government in the center on June 4, 2024.
