Abhijit Das To Run Election Again From Diamond Harbour After Giving Two Unsuccessfull Attempts

BJP has nominated Abhijit Das (Bobby) to contest the election from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha Constituency on June 1, 2024, in phase 7. The election pundits will remain keen on the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha Constituency as the TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee”s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is Abhijit Das” opponent in the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency.

Abhijit Das has unsuccessfully contested the last two general elections in 2009 and 2014 from the Diamond Harbour constituency. In 2019, Nilanjan Roy was given a ticket against Abhishek Banerjee. The BJP party trusting Abhijit Das for the third time given him ticket once again from the constituency.

The 51year old Abhijit Das is a post graduate and a legal advisor by profession. Das has 13 criminal records against him. In his election affidavit Abhijit Das declared his net worth at Rs 99.2 lacks with both movable and immovable properties.

The  Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency comprises of 7 assembly regions including  Diamond Harbour, Falta, Satgachhia, Bishnupur, Maheshtala, Budge, and Metiaburuz. In the last assembly elections in 2021, all the assembly seats were won by the Trinamool Congress candidates. Earlier the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency has been a CPI (M) bastion for decades.

In 2019, the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency voter turnout was 81.98%. Abhishek Banerjee secured 791127 votes (46%) in the constituency while the BJP candidate secured 27% of the total votes.

Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency is a general category parliament seat situated in South 24 parganas. The Diamond Harbour constituency has a significant muslim population. The SC, ST and Muslim population are 20.19%, 0.04% and 39.5% respectively. The rural and urban population in the constituency is 78.83% and 21.18%.

The Lok Sabha Election Result 2024 will be announced on June 4, 2024.
