BJP candidate Murlidhar Mohol won from Pune Lok Sabha constituency by securing 587,728 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Revindra Hemraj with a vote margin 123,038 votes.
Former mayor Muralidhar Kisan Mohol, BJP candidate from the constituency is known for his work during the covid period. He was elected as the mayor in 2019. He has also played a key role in the state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil’s victory. Earlier, he has also served as the Pune Muncipal Standing Committee President.
Revindra Hemraj Dhangekar, the Congress candidate has been serving as the member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Kasba Peth Assembly constituency since March 2023 after winning the election in a byelection.
Pune Lok Sabha constituency stands as the second largest city in Maharashtra. It has always been politically important. Historically, Pune served as the seat of the Peshwas, the Prime minister of the Maratha Empire.
In the 2014 election, BJPs Anil Shirole won the election by receiving 5,69,825 votes while Congress Dr Vishwajeet Patangrao Kadam garnered 2,54,056 votes. However, in the 2019 Lok sabha election, the Pune constituency witnessed a fierce competition between Congress stalwart Mohan Joshi and BJPs Girish Bhalchandra Bapat. Girish won the seat by securing 632,835 votes and Mohan received 308,207 votes.
The trend shows that the Maha Vikas Agadhi has toppled the exit poll results and is leading in the state sweeping majority of the seats.
