Anil Yeshwant Desai, Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate won the from the Mumbai South central constituency for Anil Yeshwant Desai with 395, 138 votes. He won with a margin of 533,84 votes.

Rahul Ramesh Shewale is the Shiv Sena candidate from the constituency. He is the member of Parliament from the Mumbai South central as well. He has served as a four-time chairman of the standing committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). He has also headed the Market and Garden Committee and the Ward Committee.

Shiv Sena (UBT) faction has fielded Anil Desai as their candidate. He is the member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. He is known for his managerial skills in elections, legal matters.

Since 1989, the seat fluctuated between Congress and Communist party of India (Marxist). However, from 1989 to 2009, Shiv Sena dominated for over 20 years. Later in 2009, Congress regained the seat.

After the Modi wave in 2014, the seat went back to Shiv Sena account. In the 2014 election, Shiv Sena Rahul Ramesh Shewale won this seat with 381,008 votes. Congress Eknath Mahadev Gaikwad came second with 242,828 votes.

While in 2019 election, Shiv Sena Rahul Ramesh Shewale won the seat 424,913 votes. Congress Eknath came second with 272,774 votes.

The trend shows that the Maha Vikas Agadhi has toppled the exit poll results and is leading in the state sweeping majority of the seats.
