The Aluva constituency has delivered its verdict today after the completion of all 19 rounds of counting. The Indian National Congress candidate Anwar Sadath and incumbent MLA secured a comfortable victory over Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate and former Alappuzha MP Advocate A. M. Ariff, winning by a substantial margin of 29,143 votes.
From the early stages of counting in constituency number 76, Anwar Sadath maintained a steady and growing lead that never came under serious threat. As each round progressed, the Congress candidate continued to widen the gap, eventually turning the contest into a one-sided affair by the final stages of counting.
Anwar Sadath, representing the Indian National Congress, is a senior political leader and sitting MLA known for his long-standing presence in Kerala politics and active engagement in constituency development activities. His campaign in Aluva focused on local infrastructure improvement, public welfare schemes, and addressing civic issues, which appears to have resonated strongly with the electorate.
On the other hand, Advocate A. M. Ariff of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is a prominent political figure and experienced leader, widely known for his role as a Member of Parliament and his involvement in public service and legislative work. Despite his strong political background and organisational support from the LDF, he was unable to convert his influence into a victory in Aluva this time.
The counting process, which concluded after 19/19 rounds, was conducted smoothly under strict supervision. Election officials confirmed that the process remained transparent and orderly throughout, with results being updated consistently after each round. By the midway point, it had already become evident that Anwar Sadath had established an unassailable lead.
Aluva, a politically significant constituency, has often witnessed competitive contests between the two major fronts in Kerala. However, the 2026 verdict clearly favoured the Indian National Congress, reflecting strong voter confidence in Anwar Sadath’s leadership and performance as a public representative.
