Aroor Decides: Indian National Congress’ Adv. Shanimol Usman Secures Solid Win Over CPI(M)’s Daleema In Key Battle
In a closely observed result from the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, the Aroor constituency delivered its final verdict today after the completion of all 15 rounds of counting. The Indian National Congress candidate Adv. Shanimol Usman emerged victorious over CPI(M) candidate Daleema, winning by a margin of 9,324 votes.
From the early rounds of counting in constituency number 102, the contest remained competitive, with both candidates maintaining close margins initially. However, as counting progressed, Adv. Shanimol Usman gradually built a steady lead, which strengthened in the middle stages and remained consistent until the final declaration after 15/15 rounds.
Adv. Shanimol Usman, representing the Indian National Congress, is a senior lawyer and experienced political leader known for her active participation in public issues and constituency development work. Her campaign in Aroor focused on local infrastructure, women’s empowerment, and public welfare initiatives, which appears to have resonated strongly with a significant section of voters in the constituency.
On the other hand, Daleema of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is a well-known public figure and incumbent representative, recognized for her background as a singer and her entry into politics through social engagement and cultural influence. As a CPI(M) leader, she has been active in constituency affairs and party activities, and entered the contest with strong organisational backing and a visible public presence.
Despite her profile and active campaign, Daleema was unable to maintain momentum against the consistent lead built by the Congress candidate. The vote difference widened as counting progressed, ultimately resulting in a clear mandate in favour of Adv. Shanimol Usman.
Aroor, a constituency known for its politically aware electorate and often closely contested elections, once again witnessed a competitive battle between the two major fronts. However, the 2026 verdict reflected a decisive shift, with voters consolidating behind the Indian National Congress candidate in sufficient numbers to secure a comfortable win.
Throughout the counting process, election officials ensured transparency and strict procedural adherence. Each of the 15 rounds was completed without disruption, and the final result was declared after proper verification. By the middle stages of counting, it had already become evident that Adv. Shanimol Usman had established a clear advantage.
The margin of 9,324 votes is being viewed as a solid and decisive win in a constituency that often produces tight electoral outcomes. Political observers note that the result highlights the importance of sustained grassroots engagement and constituency-level campaigning in determining voter preferences.
